Lauren Gambone Is New Bowling Green Assistant

Lauren Gambone, daughter of our resident softball hitting instructor, Steve Gambone was hired as BGSU's new Assistant Softball Coach. Lauren just recently received her Bachelor of Arts degree, wrapping up a successful collegiate playing career at the University at Buffalo.

A catcher/infielder, Gambone played in 52 of the Bulls’ 54 games in 2016, making 49 starts. She was fourth on the team in runs batted in last season, with 20, and tied for fourth with four home runs. Two of those homers came in a game against Arkansas, part of a day which saw her collect three extra-base hits, draw two walks, score three runs and drive in six. Gambone had a total of seven multi-hit games last season.

Lauren trained here at Diamond Dreams with her father, Steve, and sister, Cait, who plays at Akron University. Lauren was a four-year standout at Canton Central Catholic, leading her Crusaders to their first ever district championship. She hit .540 her senior season and was First Team All Stark County in all four seasons.
